IRS have exclusive insurance capacity with MS Amlin on a guaranteed, long-term agreement. The insurance capacity is given on a full delegated authority basis, allowing IRS to provide quick turnaround times and a flexible and accommodating service. This, supported by the largest dedicated team in the insolvency market, enables IRS to be a scalable partner for your business.

We have been arranging insurance solutions for insolvency professionals for over 50 years and we were the pioneers of the Open Cover concept. Our senior management team combine over 160 years of experience in insolvency insurance, which many of our clients acknowledge as a key aspect of our successful business relationship.

In 2020, we were acquired by Specialist Risk Group, the fastest growing insurance broker in the UK. We now fall under their Specialty Clients division, Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions.

We are excited for our future as IRS, part of the Specialist Risk Group.

As a Group, it is our goal to become a top 20 broker in the UK. Each year, we continue to move up the ranks of the Insurance Times Top 50 Brokers list. We have gone from #44 in 2018 to #36 in 2019 to #31 in 2020. We look forward to seeing this increase in coming years.

Our parent company, Specialist Risk Group, is a fast-paced and ambitious insurance broker, based in the City of London. The Group is split into four business units, providing a bespoke service to our unique markets and clients. Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions form one of these business units – the Specialty Clients division and the others are: Miles Smith – UK Speciality Broking, TUE – International Specialty Broking and SR Underwriting Solutions – Specialty Underwriting.

BECOMING A CLIENT

At IRS, we pride ourselves on truly understanding the individual requirements of each client that we work with. We will arrange a simple introductory meeting to discuss your requirements which can be conducted over the phone, on a video call or we are happy to visit your office (subject to COVID restrictions).

SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM

Adam started his career as an underwriter in 1983 working at Phoenix Assurance and later Sun Alliance.

In 1987, Adam joined a national broker and specialised in placement of Professional Indemnity Insurance. He joined the insolvency division of the broker in 1990, which provided insurance and bonds for insolvency practitioners; the core products still provided by Insolvency Risk Services, part of Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions. He became Managing Director in 2013.

Adam enjoys watching football, rugby, cricket, and most other types of sport.

Ailsa has 38 years’ experience as a commercial insurance broker, specialising in insolvency risks for the past 33 years. Ailsa went straight into insurance after leaving Manchester University just as a “temporary” role, whilst seeking something better, but is still looking!

Ailsa has previously held roles at Lockton, Alexander Forbes, and Bradstock. She looks after insolvency clients in the North West, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Ailsa’s primary objective as an Account Executive is to ensure clients receive an exemplary broking service, tailored to their specific needs.

Ailsa is married with 3 adult children. She enjoys keeping fit and foreign travel.

Client Service Executive

Mark joined IRS in 1992 and is based in Essex. Previously, Mark held roles at C E Heath, Eagle Star and Lloyds Bank Insurance Service. As part of his role at IRS, Mark conducts site visits and regularly liaises with our clients.

With his wealth of Insolvency Insurance experience and as a member of the IRS team, he is committed to ensure that our clients benefit from the highest levels of service.

Mark’s main hobby is cycling and he also enjoys country walks & swimming.

Client Service Executive

Vincent joined IRS in 2014 and is responsible for all client relationships and development of the North East Region of England and the East Coast and Central Belt of Scotland.

He has extensive experience in the commercial/corporate broking sector and is passionate about supporting and delivering a first-class service to clients.

Vincent has previously held senior positions with Henderson Insurance Brokers and Bluefin Insurance Services. Over the years Vincent has also gained extensive experience in Health & Safety, Risk Management, Fire Risk Assessment and Cyber Risks.

Away from work Vincent enjoys family time, following Tottenham Hotspur football team, along with numerous other sports and keeping fit working out in the gym.

Liz joined IRS over 25 years ago and is responsible for developing and maintaining good working relationships with all clients to deliver optimum service standards.

James joined IRS as Operations Manager in 2015 with more than 10 years of experience within Financial Services.

James began his career at RBS, gaining experience across Operations, People Leadership, Product Development and Risk; James’ expertise lies within operational efficiency, process optimisation and client journey enhancement.

Away from work James enjoys keeping fit, exploring new places and Formula 1.
